Dave Fleet compiled a good list of online tools that make up his social media toolkit. I’d like to share my list with you which helps me keep organized and enables me to stay on top of what’s happening online for my clients.
This topic will be broken up into multiple posts covering different topics: Information Sources, Sharing Online, and Networking with Peers.
Information Sources
Google Reader
I’ve grouped all my RSS feeds into three main categories: Design/Marketing, Technology/Business and Personal/Newspapers. On my laptop, I’ve installed the Google Reader-Twitter script to use with the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox. With this script added to my favourite browser, I can go through the news and post relevant items to my Twitter account.
Twitter
Great source for useful links from my circle of online friends. Also, a great place for discussions on social media, gadgets and books. I tap in to Twitter via TweetDeck on my laptop and Tweetie on the iPhone.
Digg.com
I was originally subscribed to the RSS feed of the most popular news on Digg. Afterwards, I soon realized the overwhelming amount of items added in the feed daily from this website; I couldn’t keep up. I’ve decided to just visit the website regularly.
I like to keep the places I visit for information simple; these three sources fit the bill. Where do you get your news?
